Thanks a lot, Monica. It's the end of Friends as we know it! Courteney Cox squashed all hope of any potential Friends reunion on The Late Show With David Letterman Monday, April 21.
"Everybody keeps wanting me to ask you, 'Will there be a Friends thing going on?'" Letterman asked the Cougar Town star. "It's not gonna happen," replied Cox, 49, who played neurotic alpha female Monica on the NBC sitcom. "There's six friends and I have been trying to put together a cast dinner ten years."
She went on to explain how it's difficult to even plan a dinner, let alone an actual movie with her former castmates. "It doesn't happen," she explained. "I mean, I can get the girls [Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow ] to come, maybe Matthew Perry , Matt LeBlanc canceled last time, [David] Schwimmer lives here [in NYC versus Los Angeles], so it's just not going to happen."
Cox's latest comments reaffirm what series' co-creator Marta Kauffman said exactly a year ago, debunking any claims that the cast of the blockbuster NBC sitcom would reprise their roles for a reunion. "I'm going to clear this up right now, no it's not happening!" Kauffman said.

Backing up her statement Monday, Cox pointed out to Letterman how the entire show was practically set in Monica's apartment via soundstage, which would make it rather difficult to expand in the filmmaking process.
Her BFF Aniston told The Hollywood Reporter back in 2012 that she was not interested in a reunion either. "I can't imagine what that would be," Aniston told the mag. "It's not normal. Friends is in your living room; Friends is not in a movie theater. It doesn't make sense to me. I think it would be going against its authentic self."

Still, the stars look back at their golden sitcom days with fond memories. "I find myself sort of reminiscing about about how much fun the show was, and the hours that we worked," Perry told Piers Morgan last July. "You know, you can see how much we laughed and everything. And I found myself saying, 'If I had a time machine, I would like to go back to 2004 and not have stopped."
Luckily for Friends fanatics, reunions between castmates are still happening -- on other shows. Aniston, Kudrow, and Perry have guest-starred on Cougar Town, and Cox has appeared on Perry's short-lived show, Go On, back in 2013.
