Kristen Stewart Makes Directorial Debut With Sage and The Saints Music Video: She Had the "Perfect Vision"

It's a good time to be Kristen Stewart . The Twilight actress, 24, recently earned raves for her performance in the movie Clouds of Sils Maria, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 23—and now she's in the spotlight for her directorial debut, a music video for pal Sage Galesi of the band Sage + The Saints.

"I knew that I wanted Kristen to direct this video, and part of that is because I knew she would have the perfect vision for it," Galesi tells Us Weekly of the vid for "Take Me to the South," co-directed by David Ethan Shapiro and sponsored by the Buffalo David Bitton Blank Check series. "We are friends, and she knows what this story about is about because it's my story."

Filmed in Tennessee last February, the video shows Galesi packing up her life in L.A. to make a go of it as a country star in Nashville. Scenic shots are interspersed with shots of the singer onstage and goofing off with friends. "It was a really great experience working with Kristen as a director because of her honesty as an artist and a person," says Galesi, who is raising money for a full-length album. "I could let go and trust that she would capture something wonderful."

In fact, Galesi tells Us that she "couldn't have been happier with the process and the finished product." Working on the video, she says, was "one of the best and most rewarding, fun experiences" she's ever had.

Stewart, for her part, told Rolling Stone earlier this month that there wasn't one second of the shoot that she wasn't "sitting with [her] head in [her] hands" because of the stress. But she's thankful for the opportunity.

"I've been saying I want to direct movies since I was 10 years old," the former child star told RS. "And then I started making movies and working with such incredible people that I realized what I was up against...Basically, I'm grateful to Sage, because she was like, 'I have this little thing, no one could tell the story better than you...just do it and stop being such a p--sy.'"
