Cary Us away, Mr. Fukunaga! Everyone's favorite Emmys crush, gorgeous director Cary Joji Fukunaga, is back in the spotlight three months after he first stole our hearts at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre on Aug. 25. This time, he's on the cover of Man of the World 's 10th issue, looking just as smokin' as ever in a chocolate-brown suit.

The chiseled 37-year-old -- whose body of work includes the first season of HBO's True Detective, as well as the films Jane Eyre and Sin Nombre -- caused a commotion this summer when he appeared at the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards. Twitter exploded with shock and awe at his jaw-dropping good looks and surprisingly studly man-braids, both of which are front and center in his Man of the World photo shoot.
Of course, Fukunaga -- who briefly dated Michelle Williams in 2011 -- isn't just a pretty face. He's currently working on a new film, Beasts of No Nation, based on Uzodinma Iweala's novel of the same name about child soldiers in West Africa. It stars Idris Elba, and was filmed in the Eastern region of Ghana.

"It was the most difficult place I've ever made a film, and in the most moronic and unexpected ways, to the point that to be surprised every day about the stuff that was happening wasn't surprising," Fukunaga, who is half Swedish and half Japanese, told Man of the World of making the movie. "At some point you'd think I would stop being surprised by, like...are you serious? That's what the issue is today?"
That said, Fukunaga is no stranger to hard work -- or hard stories. "I think it probably wasn't until even Jane Eyre that I started to realize that all these films that I've written so far or worked on are essentially about orphans," he said. "I am not an orphan, but maybe I'm some other version of that somewhere inside my head, and that's the reason why I gravitate to those stories."
