Baffled! It was revealed this past week that Hello Kitty, the popular cartoon character with whiskers and triangular-shaped ears, is not a cat.
PHOTOS: Celebs as cartoon characters!
"Hello Kitty is not a cat," Christine R. Yano, an anthropologist and the author of Pink Globalization: Hello Kitty's Trek Across the Pacific, told the L.A. Times on Wednesday, Aug. 27. "She's a cartoon character. She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat."
Yano even dissected Hello Kitty's behavior. "She's never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature. She does have a pet cat of her own, however, and it's called Charmmy Kitty."
Yano said this bombshell revelation actually came directly from Hello Kitty's creators. "I was corrected -- very firmly," she recalled of the company's fix in her text for an exhibit. "That's one correction Sanrio [the company behind Hello Kitty] made for my script."
Hello Kitty fans around the world reacted to the news with shock.

A spokesperson for Sanrio Tokyo responded to the news and explained what Hello Kitty really is -- sort of. "Hello Kitty was done in the motif of a cat," the spokesman told gaming website Kotaku . "It's going too far to say that Hello Kitty is not a cat. Hello Kitty is a personification of a cat."

One shot, two shot, three shot, floor! Khloe Kardashian had a little too much fun the night before Kim Kardashian 's wedding in Florence, Italy, this past May. As seen in this clip from the upcoming season finale of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the 30-year-old reality star was almost too hungover to walk on the morning of the big day.
PHOTOS: Celeb weddings in 2014
The clip shows Khloe stumbling to a van after getting off the plane from Paris, France. Once she reaches the vehicle, she's in too much pain to even climb into a seat.
"Just touched down in Florence. We are trying to get to our hotel, and I am so hungover," she says in a confessional. "So trying to race and get ready for Kim's wedding is torture at this point...I don't know -- I just feel like I'm holding back throwing up."
PHOTOS: Khloe's body evolution
Kim actually revealed this tidbit during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month, but seeing it play out on screen is still pretty amusing. Here's hoping the episode shows Khloe getting her makeup done while asleep, per Kim's version of events.
"They had to do it while she was sleeping because she was so hungover," Kanye West 's wife told Kimmel of her younger sister. "I think everyone had just such a good time at Versailles that they just drank way too much."

The family sitcom, which aired on ABC from 1987 to 1995, is dominating in ratings via repeats on Nick at Nite, and according to the site, has caused Warner Bros. to consider a new take on the iconic show with some of the original cast.
TV Guide reports that leading the revival is none other than Uncle Jesse aka John Stamos, who has ownership stake in the show. Original executive producer Bob Boyett and creator Jeff Franklin are also said to be involved.
So which of the original cast are reportedly on board? Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, Bob Saget and Dave Coulier are all involved in some way, TV Guide reports. No word yet on whether twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will be on board.

Team Chris it is! Us Weekly can confirm that Chris Soules will be the next Bachelor, after Arie Luyendyk Jr. said he was out of the running on Monday, Aug. 25.
"I'm not the Bachelor," Luyendyk tweeted. "Have fun on the farm people."
PHOTOS: Meet all of Andi Dorfman's suitors!
Soules, an Iowa farmer, was a Bachelorette fan favorite during Andi Dorfman's recently concluded season. Dorfman sobbed as she sent Soules home before the fantasy suite night.

"I think it's a big deal to take someone in an overnight, whether or not you do anything," Andi told Us Weekly last month at the taping of The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All. "Just the act of, like, spending the night with someone should mean something, and I think you should feel like you have a future with somebody if you're willing to spend the night with them. And as soon as I realized that there wasn't that future with Chris, I think that was the appropriate time to go." (Dorfman ended up choosing another frontrunner, Josh Murray .)
PHOTOS: The Bachelor after the final rose — where are these couples now?
Though Soules was not favored by Dorfman during season 10 of the smash series, fans chanted his name during the live Bachelorette finale when Chris Harrison was asked about the next Bachelor.
His opponent Luyendyk, 32, was runner-up on Emily Maynard's Bachelorette season back in 2012. "He already had his packages shot and they even got him a trainer so he could buff up and be camera ready with his shirt off," an insider told Us of Luyendyk being considered for the next Bachelor slot.

Despite losing to Soules, the hottie thanked his fans for their "kind words" and support. "It wasn't meant to be, and I'm okay with it," Luyendyk tweeted. "Happy I can move forward."
