The fist-pumping Jersey native will star on the show along with his mother Linda, sister Melissa, and older brothers Marc and Frank. According to the network, the show will take viewers into Sorrentino's life following his "meteoric rise" on MTV's franchise from 2009 to 2012. "What happens after overnight superstardom based on bad behavior?" TVGN says of its upcoming series, which it bills as a "docu-comedy."

"The reality of the situation is... for the first time, fans and the general public, will be able to see and, well, meet Michael Sorrentino," the Situation said of his new show, which will be taped in New Jersey. "This next chapter of my life is about sobriety and family, and I'm stoked to take people on this journey with us."

As previously reported, the 31-year-old reality star checked into a treatment program for prescription medication addiction in March 2012. "Mike was in bad shape" before the treatment center, a source told Us Weekly . Following his re-entry, Sorrentino admitted life was a struggle.

"Ever since I've been out, I'm not gonna lie ... it's not easy," he shared in the May 2012 interview with MTV News. "But at the same time, where I'm at right now, I'm at a good place. But it took a little bit to get there. In the beginning? A lot of rainy days, so to speak. A lot of rainy days."

The new series will chronicle the "line between abounding love and sibling rivalry" between the four Sorrentino kids, the network shared Monday. "We're excited to take viewers, who met Mike in a very different time and place of his life, and bring them along for this ride with The Sorrentinos," Brad Schwartz, Entertainment division President for TVGN, added.

"Family is everything and it's something people universally come back to no matter who you are and what you do. Fame just makes the stakes higher and more public.”

Production on the eight 30-minute episodes of the reality show will begin this week.
