Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams Declare Game of Thrones Season 5 the "Year of the Women": Find Out Why

Ladies, leave your men at home! Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams, and more leading ladies of HBO's Game of Thrones have declared the ongoing season 5 as the "year of the women." Here, Us Weekly finds out why strong female characters like Daenerys Targaryen and Arya Stark will finally have their golden moments on the series, as opposed to the men.

As seen in the April 12 season 5 premiere, "the Spider" Lord Varys corrects Tyrion Lannister when he presumes the next ruler to take the Iron Throne will be a male. "Who said it was a 'he,'" Varys slyly asked Lannister, hinting of his support for Targaryen (Clarke).

"It is always the year of the women," Conleth Hill, who plays Lord Varys, elaborated to Us Weekly last month at the event. "You have all strong women on the show."

Mother of Dragons Clarke, meanwhile, told Us that Dany's latest developments prove why she's one of the most powerful characters on the show. "You'll get to see the fire in her belly," she noted. "You'll see a bit of the Targaryen coming out. And her dragons, bloody teenagers! They are beginning to act up and she's beginning to understand how to wield their power."

That's right — Clarke told Us that her character is ready to rule Westeros. "I think she's getting ready for the Iron Throne," she mused to Us. "That's for sure. She has a very clear idea this season and we're getting there. I think it is finding the right balance of good and evil, because you need them both to be a good leader."

There are, however, multiple obstacles obstructing Clarke from the Iron Throne, including the Lannisters, the Tyrells, the Starks, and other competing families in the realm. "Her quest is what it has always been to get to the Iron Throne and sit on it," Clarke noted of the Targaryen princess. "What she has to be afraid of this season are the people of Meereen. She thought she could please everyone by doing what she perceived to be good, but she's now beginning to understand that you have to please both sides of the coin if you are going to be a leader."

Meanwhile, Dany will have the support of her loyal sidekick Missandei, played by actress Nathalie Emmanuel. "[Daenerys] gave her a calling and a purpose, so yes, I think [Missandei] is 100 percent loyal to her," Emmanuel told Us. "I've been given no reason to think otherwise. They are both very strong women and they recognize that in each other, so [Missandei will never] go against her."

Adorably, Emmanuel told Us that the two have developed a strong bond in real life. "Emilia is so much fun and she's such a joy to work with," she told Us with a giggle. "We have such a good time together and I couldn't ask for a lovelier girl to work with. Walking into a production like this can be quite intimidating, and she's taken me in like a big sister. I just love her."

Dany's empowering characteristics also spill over to real life. "We love Beyonce," Emmanuel said. "She's very girl power and we often have a little sing and dance that's very girl power on set. So we always have a laugh at that."

Meanwhile, another strong female lead spoke to Us about her latest character developments. Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, said this season would be one of adaptation for the youngster — as if the last four seasons weren't harrowing enough for the Stark family.

PHOTOS: Stars' shocking secrets

"I think it's time she had a little bit of a change. I hope people go with it instead of saying I miss the old Arya! It's not really new Arya, it's just broadening and adapting," she told Us. "Just because she's wearing a dress, I don't think she's more girly. And this new Arya, I like to think she's more like me because she's a lot more tactical. Arya before kind of made a decision and dealt with the consequences afterward. But this new Arya thinks about things a bit more and I like that. Arya this season is like a sponge, because she's learning. Before she'd say I'm going to do this and I'm going to do that. But now she takes a step back. And I think she's letting that soak in for this new season."

Clarke told Us that she would eventually like to see her character cross paths with the headstrong, independent Arya Stark — but not to compete for the chance to rule the seven kingdoms. "I think they would get on quite well," Clarke said. "She's one to watch out for, that's for sure. But I could see a meeting of the minds."

The new episode will air Sunday, April 19, at 9 p.m. ET. on HBO.

Naked and Afraid Survivalist Wrangles a Deadly Snake While Fully Nude -- Watch a Clip!

Why did it have to be snakes? It's hard enough participating on Discovery's Naked and Afraid thanks to the very nature of the show — two strangers spend three weeks in the wild together armed with no food, no water, and no clothes. But in the season 4 premiere of the reality hit, one of the survivalists comes face to face with a deadly snake and not much in the way of protection.

PHOTOS: Topless stars

In a sneak peek clip at the episode, watch the unlucky man as he surveys the landscape of his new home — a swampy area populated by alligators.

"The good news is, the higher waters will bring in more wildlife, making this an even more target-rich environment," he says before nearly stepping on a giant, venomous snake.

He then tries to fend off the water moccasin, saying, "I just came up on it. If I hadn't been paying attention I would've gotten bit. I would've been out of here."

Unfortunately, he isn't armed with quite enough power to take on the snake, so he calls to his partner for help. "Amber, bring the machete!"

Scott Disick, Kris Jenner Clash Over Vegas Club Appearance: Watch the KUWTK Clip!

Face off! In Sunday, April 19's episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kris Jenner and Scott Disick go head-to-head over a birthday club appearance the entrepreneur booked his quasi-mother-in-law in Las Vegas.

PHOTOS: Kris Jenner Through the Years

Jenner tries to back out of the appearance after having concerns she was too old for such an event — the party is celebrating her 59th birthday, after all — and Disick argues that she would never accept such behavior from her clients.

"If she ever saw one of her daughters backing out of a deal she'd lose their number forever," he dishes in a confessional.

Ultimately, it's poor business to cancel on the club, Disick says. "At the end of the day, we both look bad, we both don't make money, and we look like a bunch of flakes."

Scott Disick's Drinking Raises Eyebrows Before Kris Jenner's Birthday Party: Watch KUWTK Clip!

Not all drama stays in Vegas. In a new clip from the next episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Scott Disick's bad behavior from a recent trip to Las Vegas is on full display.

Kourtney Kardashian's longtime partner trekked to Nevada this past November with his quasi-mother-in-law Kris Jenner in honor of the matriarch's 59th birthday. Disick, 31, scheduled a celebratory club appearance for Jenner to celebrate her big day in Sin City, but the temptation proved to be too much for the father of three, who has famously struggled with his drinking.

The episode preview opens with Jenner in a good mood, looking forward to her night ahead with loved ones including boyfriend Corey Gamble and longtime pal Faye Resnick

"I love the energy in Vegas and I love the way it feels to be here," Jenner tells the camera. "It's exciting! I'm really looking forward to dinner tonight and then going to the club."

Stepping out in a sparkling, figure-hugging minidress, Jenner jokes, "Not bad for having a birthday party at the age of 140!"

As Kim Kardashian's mom preps for her festive night, she is asked by KUWTK star Malika Haqq about Disick's whereabouts. "I don't know," she responds. "They were seen in another hotel and he doesn't know I know."

PHOTOS: Kardashians' Hot Bikini Bods

"Scott's the one who set this appearance up," Jenner adds to the camera. "I still haven't even seen him and I'm getting a little bit nervous because I'm starting to get texts from people telling me that Scott's out and about, already drinking, and we haven't even gotten started yet!"

Watch the teaser above and catch Keeping Up With the Kardashians on Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on E!.

LuAnn de Lesseps Is So Cool, Dishes About RHONY Drama Queens Bethenny Frankel and Ramona Singer: Watch!

She's so cool, not like, uncool! LuAnn de Lesseps graciously welcomed Us Weekly into her posh NYC abode in the Upper West Side to talk everything Real Housewives of New York City — and the drama that comes with it!

PHOTOS: Real Housewives' biggest fights

"We have a great season coming up, it's very exciting. Bethenny [Frankel] is back and there's a lot of drama," de Lesseps, 49, exclusively told Us reporter Travis Cronin. (Us broke news that Frankel was returning for season 7 after a three-year hiatus.)

"She doesn't make me nervous anymore. She doesn't scare me," she said, laughing. "I think she was more nervous coming onto the show then I would be because she was out of the game for a while. But she fits right in — it's like riding a bike!"

PHOTOS: Real Housewives' plastic surgeries

Frankel's sassy zingers are just one of many highlights this season though. (Yep, you guessed it!) Ramona Singer's antics will continue at every turn. "You are on the Ramona-coaster," de Lesseps said. "You never know what you are going to get."

Indeed, especially when leaving The Big Apple! This season, the ladies are off to Turks and Caicos for some topless swimming(!), and lots of dancing and boozing — better known as "turtle time."

"We work together. It's like a family," de Lesseps told Us. "You argue and then you make up because you kind of have to live together."

Real Housewives of Orange County's Peggy Tanous Recruits My Cat From Hell's Jackson Galaxy for Feline Advice

Back to reality! Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Peggy Tanous revisits her reality TV roots on Animal Planet's My Cat From Hell. The Califonia mom recruited the help of cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy on the April 18 episode of the Animal Planet staple, hiring the feline expert to tame the wild ways of Shadow.

The family of four, which includes RHOC season 6 vet Tanous, her husband, Micah, and daughters London and Capri, has one perfect cat, Sophie, and one aggressive one, Shadow. After rescuing Shadow a few years ago, the black cat developed the habit of attacking — and the Tanous family hoped Galaxy's expertise would help tame her behavior.

PHOTOS: Cattiest Real Housewives moments ever

"When I saw Peggy and Micah’s daughter, Capri, handle the cats I know we had a problem," Galaxy told Us Weekly about the Tanous' appearance on his Animal Planet show. "As a 5-year-old, she doesn’t have the cognitive tools to know how much is too much. Peggy and Micah did have those tools, though; they needed to step in, set rules and if those expectations were not met, really consider rehoming the cats."

PHOTOS: Before they were Housewives

The main step was to teach Capri how to respect her pets. "As part of the training, I specifically told Capri not to touch Shadow. I know it’s hard for kids of that age to control themselves," Galaxy revealed. "Not only did she do it, Peggy and Micah filmed her doing it."

Luckily, the story has a happy ending. "My next step was to teach very basic compassion — that Shadow and Sophie had feelings just like she did, that they felt scared just like she could," Galaxy said. "Fortunately that approach resonated just enough to allow me to do my job and for Peggy and Micah, as her parents, to do theirs."

Watch Tanous, who left the Housewives franchise after just one season in 2011, and her family's plea for help above, and tune in to My Cat From Hell on Saturdays at 8 p.m. ET on Animal Planet.
